Saya Caporales

The dance of the Caporales is based on rhythms of the Saya that has been transformed throughout history by adding Aymaran music and trendy foreign musical elements. The multi-colored and sensual clothing, adorns the mens aggressive and muscular bodies with shoulder pads often seen as futuristic that are tightened in the arms thus reminiscent of the Spanish conquerors. These outfits are embroidered of sequins and are made up of brilliant colors. They wear high boots of the same color with bells adorning them and a whip in hand. The ladies with similar colorful outfits, however with short skirts, low-cut blouses and high heels, are often olive-skinned (racially mixed) beauties, who are sophisticated and flirty.
